Many of us are on the look out for more environmentally friendly methods to help us in our day to day lives.

Cutting out the amount of chemicals and perfumes that we expose ourselves and our family to is high on the list for most everyone.

One small way to do this that many have heard about but few know how to use is Wool Dryer Balls instead of dryer sheets.

WHAT DO WOOL DRYER BALLS DO ?

*Wool dryer balls are designed to replace dryer sheets. Most conventional dryer sheets contain artifical fragrances and ingredients that are known to cause and/or exacerbate existing respiratory and asthmatic irritations and problems. Ingredients that are toxic and harmful to all not just someone with pre-existing conditions.

*Wool dryer balls are a natural, renewable, environmentally friendly alternative to drying your clothing without any added fragrances and nasty ingredients that build up on your laundry.

*Wool dryer balls reduce drying time which means savings on the amount of energy you use. Often saving 20 % or more on the amount of time needed to dry each load of laundry. This savings adds up overtime to quite a bit.

*Dryer balls can last 500+, 1000+ loads of laundry (depending on size etc.) which is extremely eco-friendly, no waste each load

HOW DO WOOL DRYER BALLS REDUCE DRYING TIME

Dryer balls reduce drying time by getting in between items in the dryers and helping to separate them as the tumble. This promotes better air circulation within the dryer helping to more quickly evaporate moisture in the towels and draw it away.

HOW TO USE WOOL DRYER BALLS:

Put 3 to 6 dryer balls in your dyer with every load of laundry depending on the amount of laundry. Larger the load , more dryer balls to use. When not in use you can store them by leaving them in your dryer or keep them in a pretty dish or container in your laundry area.

In reality the dryer balls do need room to work so if you can keep your laundry loads to small or medium size it is preferable but if like our family some of your loads are large we have found that it just needs extra dryer balls.

Keep an eye on your laundry the first few times to see how long it will take to dry. With the wool dryer balls your time to dry is cut down, it just takes a few loads to know how much lower you can set the timer on your dryer.

Overdrying can and will cause static electricity as will certain fabrics.

ADDING ESSENTIAL OILS

Miss your favorite scent in your laundry ? Simply put 2 - 3 drops of your favorite essential oil on each ball ( this might discolor the ball but not your laundry) , allow to dry thoroughly before using in laundry.

We keep our dryer balls in a large glass container, will put drops of essential oil on each ball the night before and allow them to dry over night before using. Re-add oil when the scent dissipates.

* Pure Essential Oils NOT fagrance oils. There is a difference be sure.

***Use during a non heated tumble dry setting only.Heating essential oil to a high temperature in a clothes dryer has in some cases caused fires. There are many who use the essential oils in high heat settings this is everyone's choice to make, we would rather safe than sorry.
